Where is Billy Gunn Now??

Where is Billy Gunn Now?

Billy Gunn is one of the top professional American wrestlers of the 90's and 00's. Billy Gunn was born in 1963, and his real name is Monty Kipp Sop.

He made is WWE debut in 1993 as Billy Gunn and teamed with his on-screen brother, Bart Gunn, as The Smoking Gunns. It didn't take too long for Billy Gunn to earn his first title in 1995; they won their first Tag Team Championship by defeating the makeshift team of Bob Holly and The 1-2-3 Kid. This title was held until WrestleMania XI when they lost their titles to the team of Owen Hart and Yokozuna.

The Smoking Gunns broke up in 1996, when Billy Gunn had a short feud with his on screen brother. Then took on the new Gimmick Rockabilly, the protg of The Honky Tonk Man. Check out Billy Gunn as Rockabilly vs. Rocky Maivia who later became THE ROCK!

Rockabilly then took on a feud with his soon to be tag team partner Jessie J, it was at WWF In Your House where these two clashed check all the action here

Rockabilly was short lived though, Jessie J and Rockabilly soon realized that their careers were going nowhere, they decided to come together. Rockabilly broke away from the Honkey Tonk by smashing a guitar round his head to show their new partnership.

This was the start of the New Age Outlaws, Rockabilly was gone and Bad Ass Billy Gunn was here, also Jessie J then became Road Dogg! This Started the new Attitude era, they soon became tag team champions when they defeated Legion of Doom.

The Outlaws slowly began to align there self with D Generation x , this started when Billy Gunn and Road Dogg interfered in a match at the Royal Rumble to help Shawn Michaels defeat The Undertaker in a casket match.

The night after Cactus and Chainsaw won the Tag Team Titles, they were put in a Steel Cage Match against Billy Gunn and Road Dogg. This was when the D Generation X Connection really benefitted them.

After this match The New Age Outlaws officially became part of D Generation X.

The Outlaws had a very successful time with D Generation X, winning multiple tag team championships and feuding with the likes of Kane and Mankind. All the way until 1999, where both Billy Gunn and Road Dogg started to concentrate on single competitions.
Billy Gunn set his sight on Intercontinental Championship. He got his first shot at the gold at the 1999 Royal Rumble where he took on Ken Shamrock. The match came about after weeks of Ken Shamrock refusing to give Billy a shot , Billy Gunn Mooned Ken shamrocks sister at ringside. Ken Shamrock had no option but to take on Billy Gunn at the Rumble

Billy didn't get his hand on the title on this time, it took later that year when Billy Gunn captured the Hardcore Championship. He then had to defend his title in a triple threat match between Billy Gunn, Al Snow and Hardcore Holly at WrestleMania 15

After this short title spell Billy Gunn decided to re-unite with Road Dogg and take on Jeff Jarret and Owen Hart. But that was the last time he tagged with Road Dogg, Shortly after that he aligned himself with Triple H and Chyna. Billy Gunn even took on Road Dogg at Over The Edge. Check out the Promo for this match here. Billy Gunn won this match.

Billy was to have his biggest achievement in the WWE next, in 1999, Billy Gunn won King of the Ring! He had to beat Ken Shamrock, Kane and Xpac to get this title. Check out his King of Ring Win here.

Gunn then took on his next battle, this time it was over the D Generation X name, it all came down to one match at Fully Loaded between Billy Gunn and Chyna vs X Pac and road Dogg. Check out the match below

After that feud had finished , Billy Gunn had his sights set on bigger fish, and none are bigger than The Rock! Billy Gunn and The Rock made history at Summer Slam when they competed in the first ever 'Kiss My Ass Match'.
Take a look at this match here.

Billy Gunn then in 1999 reunited 'The New Age Outlaws and they captured their fourth tag team championships by defeating The Rock'n'Sock connection in September 1999. They then Reformed D Generation x , linking up with Triple H and Chyna once more, they feuded with the likes of Steve Austin, The Rock, Kane, Mankind, Shane McMahon, and Vince McMahon. Also it was at this time when the New Age Outlaws won there fifth and final tag team championships by defeating Mankind and Al Snow. They eventually lost their titles to The Dudley Boys at No Way Out, check out the match below.

After this loss Gunn then got kicked out of the D Generation X for 'loosing his cool' , this was due to an arm injury that Billy Gunn suffered that he needed time off for.

Billy Gunn then returned later that year and took on the group ' Right to Sensor', he teamed with Chyna. Right to sensor had a problem with Billy Gunn because he was 'The Ass Man'. Which by the way had one of the best WWE entrance themes, check it out on Amazon here amzn.to/HHIioy
Billy Gunn and Chyna lost there match at No Mercy , which meant he could no longer use his 'Mr. Ass' gimmick. But things were about to take a turn for the better for Billy as he was about to have a shot at the Intercontinental Title. Take a look at Billy Gunn taking on Eddie Guerrero on Smackdown.

This title run was only short lived as only two weeks later he lost it to Chris Benoit.
Billy's next title was to recapture the Hardcore title, taking advantage of the 24/7 rule, he interfered and pinned Raven , but this was only to last a few minutes and Raven won the title back.

It was time again to rebrand and come back into his next chapter in the WWE, this time it was to be in another Tag Team, but not like any before. Billy and Chuck first started to tag in 2001 and soon became the Tag Team Champions, soon after this they hired the Personal Stylist Rico as their manager. They won plenty of high profile matches in including a Four Corners Elimination Match at WrestleMania X8. But the title reign wasn't what made this story line so controversial, it was the fact they Tag Team Partners had supposedly falling in love with each other. It all came to head at their marriage on Smackdown, watch it below

and Part 2

Billy and Chucks tag team slowly disbanded after their failed marriage and Billy Gunn had got a shoulder injury so had time off.

Billy Gunns WWE career seemed to fizzle out from that point onwards, he re invented the 'Ass Man Gimmick' and got Torrie Wilson to manage him.

He Competed in the 2004 Royal Rumble but got eliminated by Goldberg, he also got a chance of a WWE championship title match at No Way Out but again got eliminated early on.

Billy's last title opportunity was again the Tag Team Titles when he teamed up with Hardcore Holly, but this was unsuccessful. On November 1, 2004, Billy Gunn was released from his WWE contract. At the time of his release, he was one of the most tenured wrestlers with the company, behind only The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels.

Billy Gunn was highly critical of the WWE for releasing him after all his years of work within the company. This gave Billy Gunn the chance to re invent himself with another company. It was to be T.N.A that next featured Billy Gunn, and when he began his TNA career in 2005 it was to the displeasure of the WWE. Billy Gunn is a WWE trademark name, so when TNA announcers started to use the name in live broadcasts, this took the WWE to make legal action against the company.

Billy Gunn was then known as 'Kip James' throughout his TNA Career. Within his 4-year career there, he got to team up with old WWE buddy Road Dogg.
Also he became the Manager of 'The Beautiful People' for a short while, but soon after got taken off the TNA roster to become a road agent.

In 2009 Billy finally left the promotion ,and has been known under various names in the Independent circuits.
Billy has even appeared in England under the same name , for V.P.W , check out his VPW highlights here

In VPW his also teamed alongside former WWE starts as Al Snow, D'lo Brown, Road Dogg and Hardcore Holly.

There have been rumors that Billy Gunn could make a sensational return to the WWE but nothing just yet

So the question we are asking is 'DO YOU THINK BILLY GUNN COULD MAKE A RETURN IN THE WWE?'
